ICON
Ice Content and Odd-Oxygen in Noctilucent Clouds
ICON is a NASA-sponsored program to determine the clouds' composition by measuring their IR and UV radiation and absorption characteristics. A follow-on to the METEORS experiment, ICON used the modified METEORS payload to accommodate new instruments to make these measurements.
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) awarded a subcontract to SDL for the payload refurbishment, modification and calibration of one sensor, field support for environmental testing at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility, and mission operations at ESRANGE, Sweden.
