SDL has developed langmuir probes, plasma frequency probes and electron gun systems for orbital and sounding rocket applications. SDL has collaborated with Utah State University scientists on a number of plasma sensor efforts including:

Transitioning technology from the science world to cutting-edge operational sensors such as safety instrumentation for the International Space Station
Funding data analysis algorithms for plasma frequency probes
Developing high performance systems in miniaturized packages
Deploying sensors to measure properties of the ionosphere
Fielding instruments to improve space weather knowledge and predictions
