Calibration Facilities

For more than 25 years, SDL has designed, built, and tested numerous cryogenic- and vacuum-compatible calibration systems such as cold collimators, extended-area source, and portable Multifunction Infrared Calibrators (MICs). SDL has a full array of facilities and equipment for calibration and characterization of UV, IR and visible sensors.

Offering NIST traceability, SDL’s calibration facilities include:

• Thermal and Optical Research (THOR) Chamber
• Portable MIC systems
• Filter test system
• Off-Axis Scatter Facility
• Radiometric sources
• Fourier transform spectrometers (to provide relative spectral response and spectral polarization sensitivity)
• A 48” integrating sphere
• Large-scale cryogenic calibration chamber

These systems are used for calibration, characterization and testing of SDL-developed instrument suites and for a variety of customer sensor needs. Calibration can be performed at SDL or at customer-specified locations.
