SuomiNet Project
SuomiNet is an NSF
sponsored
UCAR program to deploy over 100 research grade GPS receivers at universities
and research centers accross the US and to some extent, globally. This network
of receivers will provide realtime atmospheric precipitable water vapor measurements
and other geodetic and meterological information. Each GPS receiver is able
to have the following three capabilities:
- Ionospheric TEC Observations
- Tropospheric water vapor and temperature observations
- Geodetic, high resolution position keeping
The USU GPS receiver, located at BLO, will have the first two of these three capabilities.
All SuomiNet recievers are availiable to all researchers in real time via the
Internet.
