The Space Dynamics Laboratory has been providing atmospheric characterization services to the US Department of Defense, industry, and academia for over fifteen years. SDL maintains the unique capability to measure critical parameters affecting the atmospheric propagation of lasers, including the refractive index structure function coefficient, Cn2.
SDL’s team of scientists and engineers has deployed balloon-based sounding systems to test ranges throughout the world and captured over one thousand vertical profiles of optical turbulence, pressure, temperature, humidity, wind speed, and direction. SDL maintains the personnel and facilities to independently manufacture these soundings systems, as well as the scientific expertise to provide post-test data analysis and support.
SDL’s ability to develop customer-specific, tailored test plans and field an experienced, reliable team to remote locations on short notice remains second to none.
